Wearable Art

Radio Warrior Suit / Traje de Radio Guerrero

This wearable art work was a collaboration with Michelle Mackenzie-Felsenhardt for the Port Townsend Wearable Art Show in Port Townsend, WA. A combination of denim, fabric sourced and printed from original photographs, and fused glass elements, as well as a brass and fused glass warrior belt.

The radio warrior suit is inspired by a journey of survival. A collaborative effort between a Chilean artist and designer Michelle Mackenzie-Felsenhardt, and Aura Shahaf Woelfle the radio warrior suit began as a map of lines drawn on the designer while she was undergoing radiation therapy for breast cancer. The radio warrior suit is about strength within: feminine and elegant, yet tough enough in denim to withstand a long journey. Fused glass pieces focus on the mystery of strength within: offering windows into the soul of a warrior. Designed as a flowing pantaloon suit with jacket, the radio warrior suit features removable glass panels, a glass belt, and glass headdress that embody the mix of strength, beauty, fragility and grace that make a radio warrior.
